The staff was very helpful and polite. We arrived before our check-in time, and we were allowed to lock up our suitcases and leave them while we explored Kyoto. The breakfast was very clean and well staffed. We had a choice of salad, make your own pancakes, cereal, canned fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread/toast, croissants, boiled eggs, latte, cappuccino, juices (No miso soup though). The room was large enough for all 4 of us. The washing machine (soap was in the room) and drying room (in the shower room) allowed us to wash our laundry daily. A hanging rack in the room to hang our clothes. The bathroom had a bidet. The bidet was in a separate room from the sink and the shower. The kitchenette had everything we needed. The fridge was decent sized for a hotel. The hotel was near a mochiya and an arare store. We walked along the river to the train station. Good location. Quiet neighborhood. It was in a safe neighborhood. There is a rooftop lookout. I would definitely stay there again! Oh yeah, and popsicles in the afternoon/evening in the dining room area.

We stayed at four different hotel apartments during our trip to Japan, and Hiyori was my favorite. I loved the layout of our room, which was thoughtfully designed for efficiency while also being spacious. There was an enclosed hall leading to the bathroom and exit for the room, and this was amazingly soundproof given that my partner and I have different sleep schedules from the kids. This allowed me to pack up and do laundry while the kids slept. The breakfast was convenient and tasty so we didn't have to worry about it the night before or morning of. Also appreciated having access to drinks in the afternoon. The staff hired a cab for us a couple of times, and the front desk was always friendly, polite, and helpful. The hotel and room were clean. The self-service luggage racks for the day we checked out was convenient and safe.

Location was great, right next to the river which is a beautiful sight during sakura season. 15 minutes walking to Gojo-Dori, Sannenzaka / Ninenzaka streets where you’ll find dozens of great eateries, dessert and snack shops, restaurants and craft stores. There are also plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops/cafes just within 5 minutes walk from the hotel too. However, you’ll need to bike or take a cab to Teramachi Kyogoku / Nishiki markets, which are northwest of the hotel, across the river, and great places to visit for shopping and eating. They are a little far to walk from the hotel especially if you’re going to shop. Hotel staff is very helpful and speak English well. Rooms look brand new and are super clean, spacious and comfortable.

+ great location, in a quiet area but a few minutes walk from Gion and close to the Shichijō stop of the Keihan railways, which connects you with many places to visit, such as Fushimi Inari and Byodoin Temple in Uji. + comfortable room with well-stocked kitchen area. + simple but very good breakfast, really appreciated, especially the pancakes! + very friendly staff and everyone spoke excellent English. They were extremely helpful in assisting us with shipping our luggage to our next hotel in Tokyo. + beautiful common areas. You can see that the place has just been renovated and that they wanted to convey the atmosphere of Kyoto in every detail. It was a really pleasant stay.

Hiyori Stay Kyoto was everything we could have hoped for and more. The front desk staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and welcoming – truly outstanding service that made us feel right at home. The breakfast area was full of thoughtful touches, with generous food offerings and drink machines available anytime. The location is ideal – right next to the river, with a beautiful and easy riverside walk that takes you to the city center in just 15 minutes. Our room was compact yet incredibly well-equipped – everything we needed was there, and nothing was missing. A perfect hotel in every way – highly recommended!
